SPANISH TASK FORCE

The identification of the Spanish nationals who contributed to the cause of the American Revolution is seen as an opportunity to open the doors to more members. The objectives are also to aid in the genealogical research of the Spanish connections to the Revolution and to encourage donations to the NSDAR Library's ethnic holdings.

The compilation of lists of people who gave service is ongoing. Putting together a working bibliography is also a continuing project. The sources of information and documentation are growing and the need for more and more volunteers to assess and process this information will undoubtedly also grow. It started with records in Louisiana, Texas, California, the Southwest, and Mexico. This will probably expand into Florida, Cuba, Haiti, Puerto Rico, Spain, and beyond. We invite all members and chapters to become involved in this project.

The documentation of these patriots is no different than what is necessary for a patriot from, say, Boston. The lineage must be proven and the service (military, patriotic, civil) must be acceptable and proven. It is not enough to state that because someone was in the vicinity, he or she must have rendered service.

For more information on Spanish Patriots, contact Molly Fernandez de Mesa.
